Hoboken Meter Facility
Project Features:
- Provided construction administration and inspection services for an emergency infrastructure project following a major water main break that damaged critical metering equipment in Newark Street & Harrison Street in Jersey City & Hoboken, NJ
- Supported the replacement of an aging underground concrete meter chamber and restoration of water metering functionality serving the City of Hoboken.
- Oversaw demolition and replacement of multiple water mains (6″, 12″, 16″, and 24″), installation of new system valves, and construction of a new precast concrete metering chamber and utility building.
- Managed phased, weekend-only construction operations to maintain continuous water service to Hoboken while work occurred within a major regional thoroughfare.
- Coordinated construction within a flood-prone area, including inspection of elevated equipment building construction with stairs and raised floors to protect critical infrastructure.
- Provided extensive traffic control coordination, including partial road closures, detour implementation, and coordination with New Jersey State Police to minimize community impacts.
- Coordinated construction activities with NJ Transit, including work adjacent to rail bridges and facilities located on NJ Transit property.
- Oversaw complex utility coordination, including relocation of a PSE&G utility pole and connection of new electrical service to the equipment building.
- Inspected installation and startup of magnetic flow meters, pressure monitoring equipment, and RTU systems transmitting real-time data to utility operators.
